It is the policy of Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU), Bursar's Office that University students are well informed regarding how credit/debit card payments will be accepted for student accounts.
To ensure that student credit/debit card payments are being applied to student accounts in accordance with the guidelines set forth in this policy.
1. Visa and MasterCard Credit/debit cards are accepted as a method of payment to student accounts only in the event that:
a. an account balance is outstanding and the student is not receiving financial aid assistance;
b. and/or there is an outstanding balance after all financial aid has been applied.
2. Credit/debit card payments will be accepted only to pay for any balances not covered by financial aid. Financial aid funds will be given priority, when applied to a student’s account.
3. If financial aid assistance is received subsequent to a credit/debit card payment the financial aid funds will be applied to the account and the credit/debit card payment will be reversed. The exception would be:
a. when the financial aid funds correspond to expenses other than tuition (such as living expenses, books, etc.).
Credit/Debit Cards
Only Visa or MasterCard credit/debit cards are accepted in the Bursar’s office.
Financial Aid
Any funds received in the form of a loan from an outside lender.
Credit/Debit Card Reversal
The related transaction will be cancelled and no funds will be drawn against the credit/debit card account.
