Professional Development Workshops & Activities..

In response to your expressed interest, CAPE, IT, the Library, OHR and other WesternU units are pleased to announce a series of professional development workshops and activities for the WesternU community.

Center for Academic and Professional Enhancement (CAPE)

As a center dedicated to improving teaching and learning on campus, CAPE continually strives to offer workshops and activities that meet faculty development needs. Please contact CAPE at cape@westernu.edu to request workshop topics related to teaching and learning.

Information Technology

The IT Department is dedicated to expanding faculty and staff access to technical training resources necessary for professional success. This includes not only access to the handouts and tutorials listed in its IT Training area, but to the expertise and experience of the IT staff who provide hands-on practical instruction through these workshops.

If you do not see a training you need currently scheduled, training for a department group can be arranged for groups of 3 or more by contacting techsupport@westernu.edu or x5432.

REGISTRATION

For planning purposes, registration is required. Below is a list of current workshop offerings. Hover on the title of a workshop to see a full course description. To register, simply fill out the information fields below, select the check box next to each workshop you are interested in attending, then click on the Submit button at the bottom of this page. You will receive email conformation of your enrollment(s).

If a workshop is full, you may still register for it and be put on a waiting list. You will be contacted if a seat becomes available. We’d appreciate it if you’d use the waiting list so we can track demand for each workshop and add additional sessions if necessary. Please remember to promptly cancel your registration by emailing cape@westernu.edu if you ever become unavailable to attend any workshop. By doing so, wait-listed participants can obtain your seat.

FACULTY AND STAFF PARTICIPATION

Workshops are available to both staff members and faculty members on a first-come first-serve basis. CAPE workshops are usually focused on faculty development needs, often related to teaching and learning.

FOOD

Lunch will be provided only if indicated on the flyer or announcement. Food or drink is not allowed in the computer labs, such as the Technology Training Lab behind Subway on Gibbs.
